“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16 (KJV)
1. We all need a Savior
The Bible is clear that every one of us has sinned and fallen short of God’s perfect standard.
Sin separates us from God and we cannot fix it by our own goodness, works, or religion.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23 (KJV)
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
— Romans 6:23 (KJV)
2. Jesus paid it all
God did not leave us without hope. He sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to live a sinless life,
die on the cross in our place, and rise again the third day. He took the punishment we deserved.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
— Romans 5:8 (KJV)
Because of what Jesus has already done, salvation is offered as a free gift — not something we can
earn or work for.
3. How do I receive Christ?
The Bible says we must repent (turn to God) and believe the gospel — personally trusting Jesus
Christ as Lord and Savior, not just knowing about Him in our head.
Admit to God that you are a sinner and cannot save yourself.
Believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose again.
Call on Him, trusting Him alone for your salvation.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God
hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” — Romans 10:9 (KJV)
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” — Romans 10:13 (KJV)
A simple prayer
There are no magic words, but if you truly desire to turn to Christ, you can pray something like this
from your heart:
“Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself. I believe You died on the cross for my
sins and rose again. I am turning from my sin and putting my trust in You alone. Please forgive me,
come into my heart and life, and be my Lord and Savior. I surrender myself to You. In Jesus’ name,
amen.”
If you have trusted Christ as Savior, this is the beginning of a new life in Him. I encourage you to
start reading your Bible, pray daily, and ask the Lord to guide you to a Bible-believing church.
