Quiet thoughts from God's Word for anxious hearts

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” — Psalm 119:105 (KJV)

How this page works

This page is a simple spot for short devotion thoughts, verses, and encouragements. You can come back and add to it any time by opening this file in Notepad and typing in new devotions as the Lord gives them to you.

You could even copy each devotion into a separate file later if you want a full “Devotion of the Day” section, but this gives you a place to start writing now.

Devotion 1: When fear rises

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” — 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
There are days when fear feels louder than truth. Our minds run circles around the “what ifs,” and our bodies feel tired before the day even starts. God does not shame us for this — He meets us in it. But He also reminds us that the fear itself is not from Him.

His Spirit in us is a Spirit of power (He is able), of love (He cares deeply), and of a sound mind (He can quiet the noise inside our thoughts). When fear rises, we can pause and whisper, “Lord, You did not give me this fear. Help me think with the sound mind You promised.”

Devotion 2: When you feel alone

“When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.” — Psalm 27:10 (KJV)
People may not always understand, believe, or stay. Sometimes the ones we expected to be there simply cannot be. The Lord does not minimize that ache, but He gently reminds us that He Himself will “take us up” — draw us close, carry us, and keep us when others cannot.

You are never an orphan in the family of God. Even in an empty room, you are not praying into the air. Your Father hears, knows, and holds every detail of what you cannot even put into words.

Devotion 3: One step at a time

“As thy days, so shall thy strength be.” — Deuteronomy 33:25 (KJV)
We often want enough strength for the whole week, the whole month, or the whole year. The Lord usually gives strength in smaller pieces — enough for this day, this appointment, this phone call, this load of laundry, this bill.

He is not asking you to carry tomorrow on today’s shoulders. He promises that as your days come, He will match them with the strength you need. Not all at once, but always on time.
“This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” — Lamentations 3:21–23 (KJV)
